Kari Lapins

Violin Teacher

Kari holds a B.A. in Performing Arts Management and an M.M. in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy. Originally from Flagstaff, Arizona, she began playing violin at age 8 through the Suzuki Method and later taught in the very same program where she first studied. In addition to completing training in Suzuki Violin Books 1–10, Viola, and Music Mind Games, she has extensive experience teaching private lessons, group classes, and Suzuki in public schools.

She believes every child can learn music in the same way they learn language, through listening, practice, and encouragement, while also discovering the joy of music theory when it is taught with fun and creativity.

Kari moved to Knoxville in 2016 with her husband and their two children, and a dog. Outside the classroom, she enjoys Irish music, dance, musical theater, and the outdoors.
